It's Super Christian! No, It's A Sinner.

For all who do not know me, I surrendered my life to God three years ago. Therefore, I still consider myself a "baby Christian". Now, a "baby Christian" is someone that is fresh from the start; someone who has just started on the journey of dying daily and walking with God.

These newcomers, including myself, need people that they can turn to, people that can take them "under their wing" and show them the "ropes" of Christianity. These people are, for the lack of a better term, mentors.

These mentors are to disciple these newbies. Discipling can be anything from showing them how to do quiet-times, to actually setting a physical example of a Godly person.

Ok, since I've established a little "background" info, let me tell you where I ran into a HUGE problem. Being young in my faith, I automatically held anyone who I felt was spiritually mature on a pedestal, especially the ones that took me "under their wing", and they were pretty much categorized as a "super Christian". Saying this, I held them to standards that just weren't feasible for any human. In my eyes, they couldn't have been more perfect. They talked about God, I could could come to them with problems I was facing, and they would pray for me when I asked or didn't ask. This was all great, until they let me down. (I'm not talking once, but a lot of times). This is part of our human nature. (I mean we were doomed that day in the Garden of Eden). I'm not saying God has given us an excuse to let each other down, but He sent Jesus to die on a cross so that we could be forgiven (of FUTURE sin!---that's just amazing to me). Romans 3:23-24 says,"...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus". NOW, I realize that that "super Christian" no longer walks the earth; JESUS, no longer walks the earth. NOW, I realize I need an accountability partner; someone that can keep me on track, living my life to serve God. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another". We are to keep each other (Christians) accountable and grow from one another (sharpen).
